The number of industrial workers in the state of Washington has increase by 1% in the past year, according to the 2012 Washington Manufacturers Directory®, an industrial directory published annually by Manufacturers’ News, Inc. Northwest Washington alone accounts for most of industrial employment in the state with 195,861 jobs.

With more than 11 million underwater homes at risk of falling into foreclosure, some analysts say that government intervention has failed to do its job. Currently, government foreclosure programs mostly focus on keeping homeowners in their homes and out of foreclosure. But according to some analysts, most of these foreclosure prevention programs fail to effectively tackle the negative equity issue and in some cases worsen the foreclosure crisis.

Last week Bank of America announced they are launching a pilot program, “Mortgage to Lease,” that will allow delinquent borrowers to rent instead in lieu of foreclosure. The program will initially be limited to 1,000 homeowners in Arizona, Nevada and New York; but could expand if the program is successful.
